some tings…
- The feature film young ali: those where the days is in post-production. Sound is being handled by a studio in our sister prod-house city, Chicago. Like all long-form filmmaking, it is a process of attrition toward the finish point, gratifying & without a doubt, anachronistic.
- Working slowly on a secret project for some time…. I have a window to dive in deep. This is something I’ve always wanted to do, thus, it’ll be done.
- Reach out to your friends who need an ear & undivided attention. You can sense this every time, trust it.

flwr; storytime

On June 3rd, 2022 I release new Mirs music. This was a collab with my friend CINIMA. It’s a 2track single drop that will be available on all the major platforms. Also releasing that day is the visuals that I co-directed, essentially a video-art piece masquerading as a music video.

The other part of the drop is the album art. Now, this is where storytime begins as taken directly from my Instagram:

i’ve worked in multiple mediums through the years with film/filmmaking being the lead. But in these last few yrs I’ve been on a journey of integration, of taking the disparate & unifying a process, an ideal & a workflow. So, this is why a record release of Mirs includes original artwork that is not outsourced. The same reason that the film I’m finishing now is also scored by me playing the role of Mirs. This all equals a post-compartmentalized nowness for me, an equal amount of art direction and art itself.

Not everything will have this type of vertical, but with the way my world is, with the tools available & with a long practice practiced, it’s possible, & more importantly, it’s spiritual. so, here is spirit; come look, come listen, come feel. 💫❤️

The beauty of the world in its nowness for a creator is the sheer expressiveness afforded by the various tools and technologies available. I can offer you my new music, my new visual, and my new painting, and I can wrap it into one thing, yet, all three of those things can live on their own. This is how I always envisioned the world for the creator to become while working on my craft, as the world demanded separation & compartmentalization. The current has changed, and the water is nice for now.

You can find flwr on the OpenSea (or on any of the major NFT market platforms ie CoinBase / LooksRare) living her own life. She was minted on her own contract. She is a 1/1. Give her a new home, an inquiry, or just a thoughtful glance.

This is my latest work to present itself as an NFT. I want to build some context as I move forward in this space and in general about how our world is transforming right before our very eyes.

We often miss the macro transitional moments in life, as these changes are gradual and thus, invisible. When we look back, life seems to never have existed without the iPhone nor YouTube, and as a whole, the internet itself. Monumental changes like these felt mostly discreet. There has been a toylike weirdness to some of the world-changing tech of the last couple of decades leading to a generally benign stance, maybe even a general optimism at their initial emergence into the consumer fold.

Occasionally, we witness the transition in a non-discrete way. To me, crypto and NFTs have never felt invisible nor have they had a grace period leading to the water cooler. Like much of everything else in modern society, polemics have formed around these emergent technologies and markets. There are strict, cult-like adherents & equally strict, dogmatic opposers. We witness this right before our eyes & ears. Social media is where these culture wars are fought day in and out. The invisibility of this transition, if there ever were to be one, was made completely visible by its timing with the ongoing two-year pandemic, which contributed second-order effects that propelled these technologies to the forefront of everyday life. One can argue that crypto itself has had years to mature in the shadows, however, just looking at modern UI & ease of use, it is still very much underdeveloped in relation to its outsized influence.

While artists must have a fearlessness and moral backbone, it makes no sense to hold dogmatic positions on things that are nearly impossible to comprehend where we currently stand. We are in this stage, a fork in the road, both leading to nowhere, everywhere, and most likely, as it relates to human nature, the same exact place. Time will reveal the truth, but for now, connect where you can is a simple heuristic the artist might follow. They may also feel dissonance at this tech, and they have every right to not engage. I don’t need to convince anyone of the merits, a bit of tinkering did it for me.

This brings me to my own work and justifications for bringing it into the digital. Art is an experience, communication & connection medium. In its origin point, the value lay as a descriptor of the experience of life itself. This is a priceless act and one that is without utility. We could not create trees themselves, thus we did the next best thing. This ideal still lives in the heart of most creators & outside of purely creating, human connection is tantamount.

My aim is simple, connect with those that want to connect wherever their preference may be; physical, digital, even the metaphysical. I don’t want to arbitrate this position, instead, I’m content as a human using my hands to draw beasts in a dark, enigmatic cave.

So, my pledge is simple….to keep creating new work. To work in the mediums that inspire, to never be afraid of the creative act & to reevaluate at any moment.

Now, here is “return to sender”. This is one of my favorite pieces. It tells the story of life as a mirror. It is a 1/1.

Extensionism Origins Volume 0 - Genesis and the future

Hi friends, this has been an extended silent period, but only on the surface. Under the hood, lots going on, but we will get to that in another entry.

My identity, the one that has identified itself as myself is that of a creator - I have been crafting works, in multiple mediums, exhibited at galleries, film festivals & microcinemas for years, and with this windy trail, I’ve always held a staunch focus on ownership. In the last few months, I’ve been thinking of what to do with works that have not found homes or were never intended to find homes. Art is many times an act of nothingness from nothingness, a commitment to the now, by extension, a nonexistent future. When we sober up from the trance, we occasionally think of what now occupies my thoughts.

Keeping my works in a vault is an act of unnecessary attachment, even if demand does not exist. They need a chance to breathe on their own, an untethering if you will. My process has always been forward-oriented so things get forgotten, left in an attic once the wheels start turning again. This is not fair to that which is a consciousness of its own. With newfound clarity, I believe these works desire new homes and at the least, a chance to find independence in semi-permanency.

While I work on the new material, I am releasing some of these spontaneous or archived pieces to make their way onto the internet, locked on-chain. This gives me an opportunity to connect, and also keep my process going.

I have several projects that will go live in the coming months. But first, some 2D art from a collection titled Extensionism Origins Volume 0. There is one genesis piece that was put up as an NFT months prior titled MIKASA 2021, just to test the system. I had no idea what, and if I would pursue this space, full of reservations & equally deep in another project.

I know the arguments against NFTs (& crypto in general) but they do not hold up in my opinion. Not after my own personal alpha/beta involvement, skin in the game & witnessing the joy of community & fun. There are plenty of negatives, of course, they just do not outweigh the positives at this time. We live in a world swallowed by controlling megacorps, but for these few months now, the dream of an alternative has blossomed. A dream is good enough for me. The return of fanzines, access & possibilities.

While the OG genesis piece MIKASA 2021 sits as a 1/1, I will start releasing new drops before the other media goes live. These will not be 1/1’s, but a low edition number with low prices. I want people to access them if they desire, & profits feedback into the lab. For one, I have a feature film that is in post that needs additional funds for finishing. I have a record in post that will benefit from additional funds for finishing, and that is how it goes when you own your work. Fundraising never stops.

My hope is of course that the works are supported & I know that I would have to prove that value in time, but, ultimately, it is a process of letting go. It’s a difficult step to take, shooting as it were into the void. Ultimately, the release signifies a movement away from the past, a rebirth.

With that said, below is <\> ~ = duplicate extensionism, an edition of 5 as an NFT.

why so quiet....

a) new feature-length film (“y.a.t.w.t.d”) about to enter post prod
b) secret something else that I’ve had to remain silent on
c) 2021 NFT collection….a very small handful….this was the first piece uploaded (Mikasa 2021) to learn, was not yet avail but the NFT super artist Ali Sabet found it, made a bid & encouraged me to go forth…so, I will make exceptions for a collector with the right bid before the rest of the small 2021 collection goes live.
